Are you interested in contributing your time and skills to environmental action in your city? Consider joining us as a volunteer! We are a people-powered organization, and are grateful for your interest in helping us create a green, inclusive, and resilient Ottawa! Throughout the year, we host events, attend community-led events and gatherings, canvass in Ottawa neighbourhoods, and deliver community science projects and reports. All of these initiatives are made better with the participation of our dedicated volunteers!

These are the types of activities you can expect to participate in:

• Boothing at local events or markets to share information about our organization and programs
• Hands-on help at Ecology Ottawa–hosted events
• Community Science projects such as our Breathe Easy campaign
• Canvassing local neighbourhoods to promote our work
• Signature-gathering for petitions
• Writing, reviewing, and editing reports or publications
• Translation

We send call-outs via email when we need help. By filling out the form on this page, you will be added to the mailing list to receive these call-outs. The number of call-outs we send varies depending on the seasons, with spring and summer being much busier than fall and winter.

If you don’t hear from us shortly after submitting the form, don’t fret! We appreciate your patience as sometimes there can be a significant gap between call-outs. All volunteers, before engaging in an activity, will be required to fill out our Volunteer Agreement. Feel free to do so now or wait until we’ve matched you with the right opportunity!
